I'll know more Friday. We might be doing surgery #8

  1. I hope not for you. I am 3 weeks PO from my Brostrom, arthroscopy and peroneal tendon shortening. I have another surgery to go due to a fall 1 week post-op where I broke the bottom of my hard cast. :(

    Best of luck to you.

  3. Ahh just stumbled upon your blog!!
I broke my ankle (weber B spiral fracture) 8 months ago in Canada.. I didn't need surgery (maybe I should rephrase that - I didn't get surgery) then I had to come home to NZ. My canadian x-ray CD didn't work.. and the doctor here told me everything looked good so I had no reason to question it.

Fast forward to 3-4 weeks being out of the cast... and I was in immense pain. Had stared a new job and told my manager my ankle was hurting and she got pissy with me.. got more x-rays and was told it was just sprained..went into work.. got a phone call saying "Actually come back it's broken" but then never could tell me how/why/when/etc because your bone is meant to be stronger at a fracture site.. so for mine to be re-cracked. Again couldn't access my old x-rays (the other city had sent me a blank disc... not having much luck).

Anyway fast forward to every kind of soft tissue injury, pain.. and compensatory injury (hello Achilles tendinitis)
and then the last 2 months what I'm pretty sure must be nerve pain. This is new for the past two months and I can't tell if it's getting better or worse. The only thing that's helped has been acupuncture - but it's only temporary.
Your blog has encouraged me to keep pushing for an answer. Be taken seriously. I shouldn't be in this much NEW pain 8 months post injury. I accept that ankles take a long time to heal but come on!!

Anyway sorry got a bit ranty there!
