Dr. McGorgeous agrees with my assessment. There is a greater than 90% chance he needs to break my bone, but he said he will put a camera in and look around just to be sure. And then he told me to plan for the bone breaking. I'm glad I had an extra week to look at the CT scan myself and come to terms with this before hearing that.

  1. well at least you were in the right mindset for receiving that news. i think i have developed an infection in my ankle over the past few days, its swollen to gargantuan sizes and is very red and hot around the scar. if its still the same tomorro am going to see the dr :( so when are u scheduled for surgery?
    Elaine x

  2. Hi Elaine,

I'm very worried about your infection! Have you called the Dr to let him know what is going on? I know it is Sunday, but they always have an after hours answering service that can page him and tell him things like this. Please, please, if you haven't called already call right now. This has been going on for a few days and you need antibiotics as soon as possible. If your Dr doesn't have an answering service, go to the emergency room. And please keep me updated! I'm thinking about you...

  3. hi mary,
i went to our out of hrs dr and yep i have an infection :( am now on 2types of antibiotics and 2 very strong painkillers, feel like im away with the faries half the time!!! its still hot and swollen and this is day 3 of antibiotics, am seeing the surgeon on friday and will get him to take a look to see if there is a need for iv antibiotics or not.
    how are you getting on?
    elaine x

  4. Hi Elaine,

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the antibiotics you're on now will take care of it. I needed IV antibiotics after last August's surgery.....I hope you don't get to that point! Take care of yourself and get lots of rest. I'm hanging in there...lots going on between work, end of the semester finals and surgery 3 weeks from today!

  5. Hi Mary,
i went to see my general practitioner today and he is really pleased with how well the infection is clearing up so fingers crossed ill not need iv antibiotics when i see surgeon tomorro! another few days of tablets and i should be grand : might be starting physio soon, will see what the dr says after he sees the movement i have in ankle after 2 weeks of walking on it!
    bye for now :)

  6. So happy to hear that Elaine! I'm rooting for you!
